There are some saturation-style plugins in the vast js-category of reaper effects of which I haven't explored one percent, but a paid nicely prized high quality alternative like Klanghelms SDRR2 come to mind. Really what you are missing from Reapers built in plugins is foremost a nice algorithmic reverb ( Valhalla Vintageverb is an excellent choice) and possibly some saturation effect to dirty up sound. I use many of them on every project (even though I have paid for many pricey alternatives). But yes, I do sometimes use the reaper samplers for basic electro beats that I control over midiДЄs mentioned, the plugins in Reaper are excellent.

It's possible to route a whole drumkit and all its nuances in reaper plugins.

They can be complex although one would obviously go with Kontakt or an equivalent for complex things.

However, the lack of GUI makes them difficult to use for me as I like to get a feeling from the UI and create habits intead of just knowing numbers on a non GUI plugin.ДЄlso, know that there are a few synth generators, and sampler plugins in reaper. Some compressors are pretty good, and these have character. It's not advertised as much as it should, but they are basically reaper-tied non-gui versions of stillwell plugins. Some are golden.ДЄlso, if you didn't know, there are a few Stillwell plugins included in reaper. I personnally don't use them for creativity as I like to see real knobs and have my habits with emulations.Д¬heck out all the 'js' plugins as well. When the reaper ones don't work well enough (for example the noise cancelling FFT behaviour is good but not as good as izotope RX) I reach for a 3rd party plugin. Sure there are better tools out there but they aren't free. I also use their FFT filters (notably for noise canceling or basic tune correction). The midi tools are awesome, you can reroute any channel to any other, this kind of things. I use regularly the EQ to filter extreme frequencies, a noise gate or expander when needed. I don't like the GUI either but usually I don't see them as a good creative tool, more of a utilitarian set of tools. They are very good at what they do : mathematical, almost pure signal processing.
